Small, peaceful, and endlessly colourful - neocaridina shrimp have become one of the most popular inhabitants in the freshwater aquarium hobby worldwide.
Native to Taiwan and southern China, Neocaridina davidi rarely grows beyond 3–4 cm. The dazzling range of colours hobbyists know today - from Red Cherry to Bloody Mary - are all selectively bred from the same wild-type strain over decades of careful breeding.
Neocaridinas are tireless cleaners - they graze algae, pick at biofilm, and stir the substrate all day long. Peaceful with most community fish and breeding readily in well-kept tanks, they bring constant life and activity to any planted aquarium.
pH 7.0–7.8, temperature 20–28 °C, and stable water parameters are the foundation. A mature, cycled tank with live plants and hiding spots is all they need to thrive - and they'll reward you with generation after generation of new shrimp.
